Battling the “Yeah, but”s

Gypsy Girls!  Where are we with that inquiry we began back in January? The one in which we explored saying “Yes!” to the Universe? Are you getting yourself ready?

In the beginning I thought this series would be more structured. The worksheets went by the wayside early on. It’s an inquiry – we don’t need worksheets, we just need to be in it, to sort-of stew.

(Want to see the earlier posts in the series? They’re down at the bottom here. Go check them out if you like. We’ll stew and observe this banana split from Zurich’s fine chocolatier Sprüngli. This reminded me of saying “Yes!” to the Universe, in part because Zurich’s expensive – this banana split was a financial commitment my Mother and I said yes to. Ordering a banana split on Paradeplatz/Bahnhofstrasse in the heart of downtown Zurich, Switzerland felt like saying, “Yes!” to the Universe.)

There’s irony in this inquiry, Gypsy Girls: A very smart friend at Google, you may recall, said to me many months ago that “How” is not the Question. How is just logistics… it’s really a matter of getting ready to say “Yes!” to the Universe. I am there again.

It seems this happens over and over.

Maybe that’s what being a Gypsy Girl is.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.  I still always am.

My Grandmother is 95 years old,  running a little cottage industry out of her apartment, just planned a Fall getaway to Nashville and recently announced she is dating two men.

True story. How’s that for saying “Yes!” to the Universe?

And I think I may never find my man!

The little voice inside my head even as I wrote that last line said, “Yes, but HOW are you going to find him?”

Sometimes I just crack myself up.

It’s not about how, Gypsy Girls, and I am getting myself ready to say another hearty Yes! to the Universe, to him wherever he may be, to all of it. Are you? How’s it going?  Are you battling the “Yeah, but”s, too?

In January we Got Ready to Say “Yes!” to the Universe
February saw us Truing Up Our Choosers
March had us courageously carving up our Lives as Pie
In April we Dared to Dream with Here Comes the Sun! Did you start a Board on Pinterest to hold your Dreams Come True?
In June we considered Dreaming vs. Doing
July was about Dreams too loud to ignore. Sort-of.
Most recently there was a riff on Home that seemed to touch many a Gypsy Girl.

  • Well, in January I declared this year I was “open”. But with little over 2 months left I may be faltering. Think I’ll put on my weekend to-do list, reading the blog posts listed above! :)

  • Hello, Melissa Jaine! I declared this year was about Service. I found I couldn’t be of Service very well if I wasn’t taking care of myself… so the agenda totally changed. That’s ok. Sometimes life is like that! Best of luck.

  • I kind of feel like printing out that sentence about your grandmother. That’s inspiration!

  • I know, Anne-Marie! Amazing, huh? Whenever I’m lamenting something I think of her. I only call when I want to hear something like, “Don’t be ridiculous! Buck up and get going!” ;-)
