Do remember taking family trips when you were a little girl? When there weren’t cell phones, game boys or portable dvd players? Do you remember how you passed the time on those trips? We used to play games like connect-the-dots, crazy 8′s, truth or dare, mab libs & I spy across the back seat with our brothers. We used to tally the number of red cars & silver cars & blue cars. We would try our damnedest, fists pumping fiercely, to get that trucker to blow his horn at us. We wanted to create something to invoke that nostalgia, that freedom of the wind whipping our hair into tangles & our minds into daydream.

So put down your gadgets, tuck them in your pocket or purse.

Ready?

We’ll go first…

When was the last time you tried something new? C’mon, don’t be shy, when was it?

Doing new things can be really scary, stepping outside of your comfort zone will give almost anyone a moment’s pause. But if you don’t ever try, you’ll never really know how brave you are, because your bravery is as limitless as the sky.

Be bold, be fearless.

Go try something new.

Today.

  • One of my favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt–”Do one thing, every day, that scares you”–I try to keep this in mind as much as possible! So, I guess I would have to say yesterday! I have had the same hair style for a very (very) long time and went for a trim-came out with a whole new do!

  • It’s been way too long, so I made a birthday list, 30 things to do/try before 30. I’m looking forward to crossing stuff off!

  • At the start of the summer I tried a new kind for exercise class, Barre 3. Just loved it, but now that I’m home there is nothing like it around. Time for something new…

  • I’m trying letterpress tonight for the 1st time – and I’m taking my partner with me so he we can try out something creative too! Fun!

    Thanks for the inspiration…

  • Today! I tried painting with gouache for the first time ever. I usually create “art” with my camera & my computer, but I’m going outside of my comfort zone and am taking a class with Kal B. called Nurturing your Creativity. It’s been a long time (decades maybe) since I got my hands messy and I’m having fun!

  • This year I bought ballet shoes for the first time. I fell in love with ballet like I never did before. I want to have classes next year.
This year was also the first time I went to the beach without caring what other people thought about my body.

  • My “something new” is learning to bring balance between work and play. Time to stop the 24/7 work attitude and learn to let go and go with the flow. Start exercising again and TURN OFF THE COMPUTER before dinner and leave it off until the next day! Yaaaay!

  • The last time I tried something new was in August when I started my blog. Well, it was old and new. I have always loved writing but had let that part of myself go. It was something I often thought of starting up again but I couldn’t seem to get going or find the right outlet to do so. It was not until a conversation with a friend where I blurted out “I should start blogging about all of this” that everything felt right and fell into place. I felt the creative part of myself open up again and a new energy surge inside of me.

  • I recently took a pottery class and had a blast, even though my coffee mugs look more like Saki cups, lol. This is a gentle reminder that we must keep trying and having fun.

  • Radishes…and I loved them! 40 years old and never ate a radish…LOL

  • Great question! on the 29th of June I started exploring tarot cards and true meditation. I love it and think I will keep using the techniques shown.
