“Climate change is affecting poor people around the world today. This December, world leaders are meeting in Copenhagen to negotiate a new global climate deal. It’s up to us to make sure the deal is fair for people living in poverty. Show world leaders that you want them to act. Come to the Wave in London on Dec 5th – a festival of 10,000s of people in London demanding climate action. And remember to come dressed in Blue.”

watercolor by Jaimie Hewlett for Oxfam.
When I was in London I had the chance to see Jaimie Hewlett’s (the comic book artist behind Tank Girl and Gorillaz) exhibit at Dray Walk Gallery, just off Brick Lane in East London.
Did I mention Brick Lane is one of my fav places in London these days?
Jaimie’s big watercolors (~5 feet tall) are absolutely beautiful and impressive, but more importantly, they document Jaimie’s trip to Bangladesh as an ambassador for Oxfam’s climate change campaign.
“According to science reports presented at the climate summit in Copenhagen earlier this year: 26 million people have already been displaced because of climate change and 200 million people may be on the move each year by 2050 because of hunger, environmental degradation and loss of land.”
(that is not the kind of gypsy life we want!! that is just sad…) :(

We need to take care of our world, peeps!
Please do what you can:
You can learn more about climate change and how to take action here and here
You can see and purchase Jaimie’s watercolors here
You can join The Wave in London here.
You can attend Al Gore’s event “Our Choice” in LA on Nov 12th.
Or you can at least just spread the word and help global awareness!

And how I would LOVE to use my photography to aid campaigns that raise awareness like this. While walking through that gallery I could feel my eyes (and my whole body actually) sparkling!
One day I will.
