Inspired by UK flair

After silence, it was about time I got busy shooting and travelling again. My current adventure includes train rides, warm clothes and ‘bloody marvelous’ city life, complete with gallery shows and lots of pubs! Enough to say I seem to have traded my double lattes for pints of guinness these days… (Thank goodness for all the walking and buzzing around to offset those calories!) :)

With all that in mind, I figured I’d share my latest find, this amazing designer from Scotland. I’m drooling over Sandra Murray‘s feminine and creativite designs! Thanks to her, I’m charmed by plaid once and for all! I think she does absolute magic with such popping and challenging patterns. What a dream to shoot designs like these! I’m drooling… “Hey, Sandra, just let me know when I need to start packing to go shoot your next collection” (I know… shameless self promotion… But it’s true! i’d pack right away!)

And there is so much more to share… And I’d love to stay and chat… But I’m off to prep for a shoot in a charming 900+ year old town, and then, hopefully see Susannah and Leonie. Aren’t I a lucky girl?
So this week I am inspired by UK flair, but also by moving and doing and seeing and creating…
I’m inspired by the very active energy of “getting off our butts” and launching ourselves out there in the world, to do what we are meant to do in this life: LIVE!
Give it a try! Unplug for a bit and LIVE. Stop watching someone else’s life! You’ve got enough inspiration to get your day started. Turn off the computer, the tv, the radio, and enjoy the life that is your ‘one and only’ life! Yep. This is your single unique opportunity for adventure. Take off those cozy pajamas and put some boots on. Or not. Keep the pajamas on, but dance around the living room. Or Cook some amazing food, or look out the window, light a fire, whatever rocks your boat. But just try to move that stagnate energy weighing you down. Now… Go! I’m walking by your side and cheering you on with my plaid funky dress and the trusty camera around my neck.
Keep on going…
(I’ll be back soon with updates).

  • wow great post….SOOOOO inspiring, really!!

  • Alex, I love these designs. Thanks for sharing them. I’m a Londoner but I’ve never heard of Sandra Murray before. I agree about unplugging. There was no TV or internet for me for a few days and I found myself being more productive, more creative. I even spontaneously made a feather headdress to lark about in!
All the best with your adventures x

  • Oh Alex thank you! These designs are so drool worthy and inspiring! (Love all of the tulle with plaid and the little details like fringe) And for the kick in the butt…it’s just what I need these days!

  • PLEASE give Susannah and Leonie a hug for me!

  • I will indeed get off my butt, turn off the computer and go for a delicious walk on my own stormy beach, knowing that you, Leonie and Susannah are walking with me in spirit. Give them both some love from me. xx

  • Alex, sounds like you’re having a lovely time in the UK. We just got home Saturday afternoon from two weeks away in UK – not London, for a change. Still, a terrific break. Hope to catch up w/ you soon. xo

  • Hi Alex!
Have the best time, and now I have to say I LOVE plaid too!
Never worry about shameless self promotion, no one else seems to. ;)

  • Interesting blog, as an expat Brit, now living in Argentina, this was especially interesting.

  • This post made me laugh, since I live in Australia and till lately, did not own a car either. My housemates have been all inside the exact same boat, but we had been all too proud to purchase a trolley simply because in our suburban location its regarded as humorous. But in the inner-city Melbourne suburbs they are all the rage! Anyway, as somene who has been within your scenario, I can empathise!
