Inspired by: a Celebration of Colors

Be warned: This post is not for the faint of heart!

color_06.jpg

I'm dizzy in pure amazement! Aren't you? There are no words...

But since we are seriously crazy like that... Let's keep going, shall we?

Oh my...

The amazing photographer who captured these images is Poras Chaudhary. He was born in a small city of Northern India. Poras is a freelance photojournalist and a documentary photographer, who is completely self-taught. He has won several awards including the Digital Camera Magazine's 'Photographer of the Year' award in 2006, National Geographic Traveler's photo contest Merit Award winner in 2008, and was a Runner Up in 'Epson Color Imaging Contest 2008'."

You can check more of his wonderful colorful work here.

(Boston Globe) The images are from a celebration called Holi, the Festival of Colors. Holi is celebrated in March, as a welcoming of Spring and the triumph of good over evil. Apparently people go completely nuts and let go of their inhibitions to chase and splash each other with colorful paint, powder and water.

Sounds good to me :)

I feel like I've been missing out big time! I shall go back to India to see this! A must on my list before I die.

And how are you holding up? Head spinning, no?

I know... I know... See... I told ya.

***

But now I'm here wondering...

How can we invite a splash of color in this week?

Could be colorful clothes, new hair color, colorful flowers for the house, making colorful art...

You tell me! It's June after all... I declare June the month of COLOR.

What are you going to do to celebrate your * colorful life * this week and perhaps even this month?

Simply inspiring! So gorgeous!! Thank you so much for such wonderful post!

I love all of this color! Absolutely amazing pictures. I will definitely have to find some ways to get more color into my life.

Andi:

GORGEOUS pics!!! I heard about Holi many years ago and have wanted to check it out for myself ever since. After seeing those pics I want to go now even more so.

Today I wore a super colorful dress with butterflies all over it. Plus I've gotten into pink lipstick as of late. :)

i'll go with you! i've wanted to go for years...

as for the photos...AAAHHHHHHHH!!!...i saw some of them several months ago in a magazine while waiting at the orthodontist for my daughter and welled up with tears. seriously.

once again, you smack me in the core, girl.

xoxo lisa

ps. remember i said i didn't think i was interested in the technical aspects of photography? well, never mind.

Oh my gosh - I was in India last year for Holi! (Well, actually, I was in Bangladesh on Holi day and then India the next day.) It was amazing (though I didn't see anything quite as riotous as these images)! One of my favourite captures is this one... http://www.flickr.com/photos/fumblingforwords/2412619336/in/set-72157604528050749/ We were floating down a canal, and these boys started chasing us with their colour. Magical.

I am making colorful art. :)

This is fantastic! I must see this someday in person .. I think it would completely satisfy my love for color - at least for a day or two. ;)

Linni:

L.O.V.E this!
It's winter here in Cape Town and everyone is wearing browns and blacks...today when i got up and opened the blinds i saw the sun peeking out..i twirled with glee...ran to my cupboard and put on a bright red long skirt with a white shirt and my JOY necklace...

I got compliments all day long...at one stage i felt like a queen...being complimented so many times...just because of a red skirt...

color!!!! i love it!!!! red! the color of life!

and these photos...mmmmm.....like chocolate melting in my mouth ...also love that he is self-taught...winning so many awards....so you are the next self-taught gorgeous photographer winning awards?! xx (with a splash of color!)

i have no words i am just grateful that i found these pics today and that i saw them, my brain cant really understand what im seeing but im so in awe and im so in love! really beautiful

EXCELLENT. Absolutely gorgeous photos. I had been thinking about taking my children out in the yard and having them paint on a large piece of paper, or bedsheet, with their hands, feet, elbows, whatever. This is inspiring, to say the least.

I think all people of the world should be encouraged to do this, at least once a year. :)

oh. my. goodness! I love this! give me color, color, color!!

These photos are amazing! Breathtaking!

I feel happiest when I'm surrounded by color. That's why this month, I'm taking steps to update my studio space and breathe new, colorful life into it. You can read about it here:
