Pink Wig Dreams, Oregon coast ~
Spring is most definitely here and I am twirling around in my studio, feeling somewhat intoxicated by the scent of lavender, blooming outside my window. I’m in a such colorful and drowsy state of mind, that reminds me quite a bit of my friend Maddie’s joie de vivre, actually.
Could be that I did not get much sleep last night, thanks to my wired brain, incessantly coming up with more marvelous ideas, and plotting new ways for bringing sprouting dreams to life… Could be… Could be…
But I got myself out of bed early as usual anyway, craving a cup of Sunrise Chai (a special chai blend, mixed by a certain ‘tea master’ friend of mine. Oh I think it was very genius of her to add orange peel chunks to Sri Lanka black tea, cardamon, cinnamon and cloves, don’t you think? It all goes so incredibly well together.) I felt so inspired by the sweet and spicy aromas in the air, that I just had to pair my cup of tea with a side of buttermilk waffles, strawberries and cream.
I know… It does seem pretty naughty for an ordinary Wednesday… But I’d bought some daffodils at TJ’s for only $1.25 a bunch the other day, and also, these bloom plates at Anthro, so I absolutely had to stage an amazing breakfast to feature my lovely purchases! I mean, I just had to, non? :)
By 10am, I found myself out of the house with my pal the Red Holga. An absolutely illogical act, going for a walk on the beach, while leaving email, posts, photo retouching and other work for much later indeed. (Not to mention the dishes in the sink!) But Red and I love to play hookie now and then, and today was that kind of a day. It must have been the northwest winds, calling us to see the ocean looking choppy and messy, yet, as vibrant as ever, just like my mood these days.
Waves crashing hard… White and tall sand dunes coming undone… Wild grass dancing back and forth… And the sun glare, bleeding through the crevices of my plastic camera, painting unpredictable pink and blue edges, over the memories of this sweet April morning… The beauty of the world has officially taken my breath away!
Now I think I should cut up a few magazines and make a mess in my studio floor to create a new vision board. Care to join me? Get your art supplies, put your pink wig on, turn up the volume of your stereo, open all the windows of your soul and let the magic of Spring enter your life!! I suggest Katie Herzig on your playlist. Her voice is fresh blooms and a sunny ride down the coast (with the top of the convertible down, of course!).
Happy April, everyone!

I’d join you, but I made one the other week – and it is so bright and colorful and joyful that I do not know if it will ever come down. :)
Congrats on the Nine to Five article – it was fun to read!
So lovely, Alex. Wish I were in San Fran to join you for a walk along the beach! I am so homesick for San Fran. Maybe this fall. Am glad you’re enjoying the creative process and being good to yourself, as well! xoxox
